Beach Access 10
We choose to situate ourselves by the ocean, a place associated with comfort, and we literally seclude ourselves on an island in order to focus on one another. But even surrounded by Florida’s serene landscape and sunshine, we are consumed with discomfort. Some days the ocean is calm and other days the waves crash hard. These photos express my growing pains of familial acceptance. Making photographs is an effort to build connection to this new home, and as I continue this project I uncover more questions relating to my personal identity and my family role.
